A land, Ribera del Duero, that Juan Luis traveled many times until he found his dream vineyards. Ancient vines, some a century old. Old vines, sparing in production, but with a generous character to give their best in every bunch.
At our winery, we have always believed that great wine requires great land. From this foundation, Bodegas Dominio de Cair was created in 2008. A modern winery with avant-garde architecture, where nothing is left to chance; everything is designed for what truly matters: optimal conditions for creating wines of exceptional quality.
Wines that in such a short period of time have already won national and international awards.
The vineyards, located in the municipalities of La Aguilera, Quintana del Pidio, and Moradillo de Roa, are where our passion for obtaining the best grapes becomes real in every vine.
We have approximately 120 hectares of our own and controlled vineyards, an altitude of between 820 and 950 meters above sea level, and clay-limestone, sandy and gravelly soils.
Vineyards meticulously controlled throughout their cycle to leave only the best bunches on the vine.
Vineyards carefully tended with a commitment to rational and environmentally friendly viticulture.
At Dominio de Cair, apart from having a great vineyard, we firmly believe in selection.
Vineyard selection. We study each plot to determine the optimal harvest time and the grapes' destination. We harvest the grapes in small crates for safe transport to the winery, where they are received and placed in a cold storage chamber that allows for precise temperature and humidity control, which is essential.
The sorting table. The grape bunches are inspected on a double sorting table. On the first table, the bunches are selected manually, and on the second table, each berry is selected individually, so that only those in perfect condition will continue the winemaking process.
Winemaking: Our modern facilities have been designed to ensure that winemaking takes place under the best possible conditions. We have oak vats and small-capacity stainless steel tanks.
Aging: For the aging of our wines we have the best selection of new French and American oak barrels, from the most renowned cooperages in the world
Our goal: To awaken your emotions and make you enjoy every uncork.
