The production of Arzuaga wines is based, without a doubt, on three premises: soil, climate and orientation.
La Planta is a place where the flora and fauna of the area coexist. A flora composed of pines, oaks and junipers and a fauna made up of wild boars and deer. This coexistence is, without a doubt, the confirmation of the love that the Arzuaga family feels for the world of nature. The estate consists of 1,400 hectares, a luxury in the heart of the Denomination and Golden Mile of the Ribera del Duero.
It is in the early 90s, when Florentino Arzuaga , after purchasing the La Planta estate, began planting vines, building the winery and, of course, making wine.
The vineyards
The attention starts in the vineyard, because it is impossible to make a good wine without healthy, quality grapes. Thus, care is taken to ensure that yields are very limited, in line with the soils of low fertility and the harsh Castilian climate, since too high a production would reduce the concentration and quality of the wine. The excellent quality of its grapes, an essential premise of good wine, the care with which the vineyards are cared for and the passion in the work have made Arzuaga wines already some of the most prestigious of the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin.
Quality is essential at Arzuaga, it is the most pampered and cared for aspect.
Arzuaga Wineries The Arzuaga region has 210 hectares of vineyards, distributed between the surroundings of the winery and the natural space of the La Planta estate. The Arzuaga vineyards enjoy a unique climate: the day is characterized by a clear sun, while the night is cool and humid. This climatic combination makes the ripening of the grapes slow and perfect, resulting in a healthy, tinged and sugary fruit, with an aromatic acidity. In this Castilian region, with soils of low fertility, the Tinto Fino or Tempranillo varieties are grown, as well as the French Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. 80% of the vines are over 20 years old and produce more or less 4,000 kg/ha. On the other hand, Arzuaga Wineries It owns vineyards outside the province of Valladolid, specifically in the town of Malagón, in Ciudad Real, where it produces Pago Florentino wine.
