The Axe (Sikkim)

Sipsmith Independent Spirits

It is the least populated state in India. It was a gateway for the tea routes coming from China. It is there that the only garden exists where our red tea, one of the best teas in the world, grows.

A 6-hour drive from the nearest airport. During this journey, you'll discover paradise with its green hills, dotted with villages of colorful houses, and crossed by crystal-clear rivers.

Sikkim has won the award for India's cleanest tourist destination, awarded by the Ministry of Home Affairs, and UNESCO has declared its national park surrounding Mount Kanchenjunga a World Heritage Site.

From the name to the tasting notes, every detail makes Sikkim an exclusive gin. Sikkim Gin uses a British gin base infused with Tibetan red tea and floral essences, which are then modified to create the four different types of Sikkim. For distillation, we use copper stills dating back to 1875, among the oldest in Spain, and the perfect distillation technique of our master distiller, who has achieved the ideal balance in the proportions of alcohols and essences.

The packaging is inspired by a 1920s perfume bottle, given the number of essences it contains. It was crafted by one of Paris's finest glassmakers, which also works with major global luxury brands. Each color represents the predominant essence: white, or Privée, coriander flower; purple, or Bilberry, blackberries; pink, or Fraise, wild strawberries; and green, or Greenery, apple.
