The Bierzo Denomination of Origin is located in the province of León, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León, and is known mainly for its red wines made with the Mencía grape variety.

However, it also produces high-quality white wines made with native varieties such as Godello and Doña Blanca. White wines from the Bierzo DO are usually fresh, with notes of white fruits and citrus, and with a mineral touch due to the terroir of the area.
