With over 100 years of history, the origins of our winery date back to our great-grandfather, Emilio Moro, and his son, also named Emilio Moro. Both, who lived in a wine-growing environment surrounded by vineyards, grew up treading grapes in their hometown of Pesquera de Duero, located in one of the most important and renowned wine regions in Spain and the world, known as the "Golden Mile." Emilio Moro instilled in his son a deep love for wine, and he, in turn, passed it on to the third generation, who, with the support of the fourth, currently manage the winery.
Bodegas Emilio Moro was founded in 1987. Emilio Moro, the second generation, and his children began marketing their wine, initially without labels, although they themselves drew some by hand.
Just two years later, in 1989, the first harvest under the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin (DO), created in 1982, took place. At that time, the wine bearing his name, Emilio Moro, began to be sold with a label. The effort began to be rewarded, and in 1993 the 1989 vintage of Emilio Moro Crianza was chosen as 'Best Wine in Spain' by the magazine 'Vino y Gastronomía' (Wine and Gastronomy).
Respecting and preserving our family legacy is very important to us. We cherish our history and origins, striving to ensure they endure and are present in every step we take toward the future. A future in which the fourth generation is immersed and for which we work to be better.
We grew up among barrels and vineyards, experiencing the harvest as a game and learning about the making of our wines to later dedicate ourselves to it with the same passion as our grandfather.
Patricia Sánchez Moro, general manager of Bodegas Emilio Moro, has been involved in the world of wine her entire life and has been at the helm of the family winery since 2022. The eldest of Emilio and Felisa's grandchildren, she admits that her most cherished memories are not of Christmases filled with toys, but of playing among the vineyards with her cousins, while her grandfather dedicated himself to crafting great wines.
