DO Bordeaux

The Bordeaux or Bordeaux générique appellation is the most important and best-selling of all the AOCs in the Bordeaux region. All other AOCs in the Bordeaux region, including the most prestigious ones, are authorised to produce under this AOC. The quality standards and specifications for this AOC are drawn up by the INAO institute.

The Appellation d'Origine Controllée (AOC) was created in France in the mid-1930s. Its aim was to combat fraud and protect the name of the wine, its characteristics and the specificities linked to a defined terroir.
