Rioja Alta Winery, S.A.

Sipsmith Independent Spirits

Tradition and Vanguard

In the difficult art of creating great wines we combine the wisdom of tradition and the avant-garde. To do this, in addition to the century-old winery in Haro, we have modern facilities located in Labastida where we proceed to vinify our own grapes with the help of the most advanced technology.

Oak is the core of the ageing process, and that is why we make our barrels, currently around 30,000, in a completely artisanal process. Using wood imported from the United States and dried in the open air for two years, our workers make each barrel in the cooperage at the century-old facilities in Haro.

Every six months, we rack all the barrels by candlelight in a traditional way. This is an art that helps the wine to evolve, cleans the sediment naturally and controls each barrel individually.

After being aged in barrels, the ageing process is transferred to the bottle racks, where our wines polish their personality, rounding out and developing all their qualities.
