Compass Box Ultramarine is the first limited edition in the Extinct Blends Quartet series, launched in August 2022 with an exclusive production that pays homage to the legendary luxury blended Scotch whiskies of the 1980s. This expression seeks to capture the essence and complexity of those whiskies that combined the sophistication of smoky malts with the smoothness and richness of grain whiskies, resulting in a harmonious and distinguished profile that is currently uncommon in the market.
The careful selection of malts, primarily from Caol Ila, renowned for its cloudy and smoky character, and Glendullan provides the aromatic base and depth that define Ultramarine. These malts are complemented by grain whiskies from Cameronbridge, Girvan, and other pre-blends are used in the blend, adding smoothness, texture, and complexity to the overall blend. Maturation in a balanced combination of American bourbon, sherry, and French oak casks allows the whisky to develop spicy and fruity notes, along with a subtle smoky character that intertwines with a creamy, lingering finish.

Color ámbar profundo con reflejos dorado cobrizo. Brillante y de cuerpo denso, muestra lágrimas lentas y persistentes al agitar la copa. Su tonalidad cálida refleja la influencia de barricas de jerez y roble francés, sin adición de colorantes.
Nariz
Aromas profundos y complejos con notas de fruta seca, especias dulces, miel y roble. Aparecen también matices de tabaco de pipa, tierra húmeda y un humo de turba elegante y moderado. Toques de frutas negras maduras y especias cálidas.
Boca
Entrada cremosa y potente, con sabores de frutas secas, melaza, vainilla y especias dulces. El humo de turba es envolvente pero no dominante, aportando equilibrio junto con notas de tabaco, cuero y un ligero amargor agradable de madera. La textura es sedosa y persistente.
