Ritus is a wine from Bodegas Balbás, born as a tribute to the ancient May Festivals of the villages of Castile, celebrations that prayed for rain and bountiful harvests. It is a wine that recalls the winery's origins and roots, but with a modern interpretation of the Ribera del Duero region. Each sip of Ritus is a journey to the past and an invitation to relive those celebratory moments.
It comes from the La Malata estate, located at an altitude of 940 meters , one of the highest vineyards in Ribera del Duero. Balbás was one of the pioneering wineries in planting vines at high altitudes in the area. The estate, whose name comes from the nickname of its former owner, symbolizes the future of the Balbás family and its seventh generation, represented by the three daughters Patricia, María, and Berta, who are symbolized by the three cypress trees that crown the estate.
Its blend is 75% Tempranillo and 5% Merlot. This combination gives Ritus a modern, innovative, and distinctive profile within the Ribera del Duero DO, perfect for those seeking a different wine experience. La Malata is one of the most demanding estates due to its extreme climatic conditions, so Ritus' production is always subject to the specific characteristics of each harvest.
