Ramon Bilbao

Bodegas Ramón Bilbao is an example of the purest Rioja tradition combined with innovation and the highest quality.

They began their journey as a winery in 1924, although in 1896 Don Ramón Bilbao Murga was selling the wines on the streets of the municipality of Haro, where he still has his facilities today.

Until 1966, the path of the winery had continued its course, from generation to generation. Unfortunately in that year, Ramón Bilbao Pozo died without issue. Five years later, the Ramón Bilbao project became a public limited company under new ownership. The new winery facilities were built in Haro, and work continued to perpetuate the spirit of the founding family.

In 1999, already in the hands of the Zamora Group, one of the largest Spanish beverage groups, Bodegas Ramón Bilbao began a program of modernization, internationalization and promotion of the brand at the consumer level and expanding the range. Today it is one of the best-known Rioja wineries under the tutelage of the famous technical director Rodolfo Bastida.

The firm has nearly 75 hectares of vineyards spread across some of the most renowned towns in La Rioja, among which it is worth highlighting, in addition to of course Haro, San Vicente de la Sonsierra or Briones. The Ramón Bilbao building complex has been located on the outskirts of Haro since 1972, surrounded by vineyards and is equipped with the greatest technological advances to make possible the production of some of the best wines in La Rioja. The winery also has a visitor center, which is among the five busiest in the appellation, with a professional tasting room and a wine cellar. The firm's excellence was rewarded in 2014 with the award for the best winery in Spain in the International Wine and Spirit Competition.

Ramon Bilbao belongs to the Diego Zamora group (known for the production of Licor 43) along with Frades Sea in Rías Baixas, Cross of Alba in Ribera del Duero, and Palacio de la Vega in Navarra.
