Alcohol is a major contributor to flavor, and in combination with proper aging and perfect casks, a high alcohol content can draw out wonderful aromas from the spirit. Marco Savio, the brand's owner, in collaboration with experts, has created three special bottlings. For the Malecon Rare Proof Aged 13 Years, the finest casks from the 2009 vintage were selected and blended. This small, limited batch, also known as a small batch, was adjusted to the perfect alcohol content through several rounds of tasting. For the young and vibrant Malecon Rare Proof Aged 13 Years, an alcohol content of 50.5% has proven optimal. This exceptional alcohol content, hence the name "Rare Proof," unleashes a true explosion of flavors from the 13-year-old rum. A delight!
In the tasting, Malecon Rare Proof Añejado 13 Años demonstrates a full and elegant character. Complex and evocative fruity aromas of caramelized pineapple and mango, leather, and a powerful and lively body unfold. The warm, elegant, and lingering finish is accompanied by notes of coriander, allspice, pecan, and wood.
