The Monterrei Denomination of Origin is one of the smallest wine-growing areas in Galicia, in the northwest of Spain.
Monterrei wines are known for their elegance and freshness, with a great diversity of grape varieties. White wines are the most prominent, although red and rosé are also produced.
The main grape varieties are Godello, Treixadura, Dona Branca and Mencía. The slate and granite soils, as well as the continental climate, contribute to the uniqueness of Monterrei wines.
