1950
It wasn't until 1950, after years of experimentation, that the company managed to establish itself in the local market. This success was thanks to the formal launch of the Barceló Blanco and Dorado products, which were very popular among consumers at the time.
1970
In 1970 Ron Barceló Añejo was introduced to the brand's portfolio, with its distinctive amber-colored bottle, which has become the most exported Dominican rum.
1980s
In the 1980s, Ron Barceló topped the list of favorite national rums, and Ron Barceló Imperial, the flagship premium rum of the Dominican Republic, was launched. Since its inception, this rum has become a leader in its segment and remains the most awarded Dominican rum by international organizations.
1990s
The internationalization of the brand takes place, beginning exports to countries like Spain in 1994, leading to Ron Barceló currently being in 3rd place among Spirits in Spain.
2001
Seventy years after the brand's founding, in 2001, a group of Spanish businessmen formed a strategic alliance with Barceló & Co. to market the brand worldwide, with the exception of the Dominican Republic. In 2002, Barceló & Co. separated from international operations, handing them over to the Dominican-Spanish business group, the Dominican branch comprised of the Barceló Díaz and García families, thus creating a new company called Añejos Barceló – now Ron Barceló SRL.
2006 - 2019
After being present in 25 international markets, Ron Barceló SRL fully acquired the Ron Barceló brand, with members of the 3rd generation of the Barceló family, Barceló Díaz and García, remaining on the board of directors.
2016: We strengthened our actions in the area of sustainability, specifically carbon neutrality, becoming the first rum in the world accredited as Carbon Neutral, which has allowed us to lead the promotion of sustainable development.
2018: Ron Barceló became the most exported dark rum according to the IWSR (International Wine and Spirits Research). A feat achieved again in 2019. The brand's presence was also consolidated in more than 80 countries worldwide.
Present
In 2016, Ron Barceló became the first rum in the world to be certified as Carbon Neutral. We became the first spirit and rum in the world to join the UN's Climate Neutral Now initiative.
Introducing Ron Barceló Organic. We acquire carbon credits from formally certified reduction projects at the Los Cocos I and II wind farms of EGE Haina.
