Casa Brugal Distillery

Born in Spain, our founder, Don Andrés Brugal, was ambitious and adventurous, drawn to the possibilities of the Dominican Republic to reach his full potential. There, he found all the right elements to make a superior rum and saw the potential to connect the different parts of the rum-making process in his own unique way, unlocking a new, deeper, smoother rum with the power to bring people together. Brugal was born in 1888, and since that day, we have continued to bring out the best in our barrel-aged Dominican rum.

When Brugal was founded in 1888, the Dominican Republic was still relatively unknown to the world. However, new horizons and the pursuit of excellence have always been the foundation of its progress and recognition; taking Brugal to the world and bringing the world's lessons back to Brugal, all rooted in a desire to be inspired and to inspire others.

Brugal began as a family business, but with each generation it has grown into a large international family. A family of experts committed to bringing out the best in themselves and ensuring the continuity of the Brugal legacy.

Brugal continues to strive for excellence through its commitment and contributions to the development and well-being of our people and communities, both in the Dominican Republic and internationally. From the island's infrastructure and the first hospital in Puerto Plata, to its ongoing support for the environment and the community, Brugal is dedicated to bringing out the best in the land and its people.

Brugal founded the Brugal Foundation, now an independent charitable organization that has become the most admired non-profit institution in the country, with programs and actions that positively impact the entire Dominican Republic.

Our exceptional rum-making process has been carefully crafted at our Dominican distillery in Puerto Plata since 1888. Like our founder, Don Andrés, our fifth-generation Master Rum Makers are passionate about extracting the best from every barrel and blend. Our unwavering dedication to quality has allowed each stage of our process to be meticulously perfected over time.
