Denomination of Origin Alicante is a wine region located in the province of Alicante, in the Valencian Community, Spain.
Alicante wines are mainly red and sweet, although white and rosé are also produced. They are made with native varieties such as Monastrell, Garnacha Tintorera and Muscat of Alexandria, among others.
The red wines are characterized by their Mediterranean character, with body, structure and notes of ripe fruits and spices. Sweet wines stand out for their balanced sweetness and notes of raisin fruits and caramel. They are ideal wines to pair with Mediterranean dishes, meats, cheeses and desserts.
