Bodegas Mauro was the García family's first winery in the Duero Valley, followed by San Román Bodegas y Viñedos in 1997 in the Toro Designation of Origin, and completed with Garmón Continental, an exclusive project in Ribera del Duero started in 2014.
Three approaches to viticulture in the Duero Valley, respecting the unique characteristics of each territory, which make up a particular winemaking philosophy.
The Bodegas Mauro vineyard covers an area of 90 hectares, with an average age of 35 years and yields of between 3,000 and 5,000 kilograms of grapes per hectare.
The vines are trained in a bush-like fashion and are planted on light, filtering, calcareous clay soils that are easy to work with.
In the vineyards of Tudela de Duero, the grape harvest begins in mid-September with staggered picking by plots, based on a comprehensive criterion of ripeness.
The bunches are picked by hand and transported in 13-kilogram boxes to the winery, where they are cooled in a chamber to promote clean aromatic extraction.
Bodegas Mauro produces between 300,000 and 350,000 bottles a year, 60 percent of which are destined for the domestic market and the rest for foreign demand, with a presence in more than sixty countries.
