DESCRIPCIÓN

Mar de Frades is a single-varietal Albariño white wine produced in the Rías Baixas DO by the winery of the same name, Mar de Frades.

The grapes used to make this Albariño come from Finca Valiñas, a vineyard planted on terraces and located south of Monte Valiñas, in the Salnés Valley. The influence of the nearby Ría de Arousa is noticeable, and its sea breezes give this Mar de Frades a saline character. The vines are more than 20 years old, trellised to avoid soil humidity. The soil is poor and shallow, made up of decomposed granite sands that give the wine a certain minerality.
The grapes are harvested manually and undergo a strict selection process at the table, where up to 20-25% of the harvest can be discarded. The grapes macerate for 10 to 20 hours and after a light pressing a clean and very aromatic must is obtained. Fermentation takes place slowly at a controlled temperature.

Mar de Frades Albariño is the flagship of Mar de Frades, one of the leading wineries in Spain, home to some of the most sought-after Albariño wines from the Rías Baixas (Galicia).
