Diageo Special Releases (or "release editions") are an annual limited collection of 8 bottles of whiskies selected and bottled by Diageo , one of the world's largest beverage companies, owner of iconic brands such as Lagavulin, Talisker, Oban, Mortlach, Caol Ila, Singleton, Clynelish , Johnnie Walker , Cardhu , among many others.
They feature unique designs , are very limited edition, and are highly collectible, which increases their value over time, especially since they are all from the same year. For this reason, many of them already command a high price and are difficult to find, but not impossible.
- Special Release 2022:
This unique collection of eight finely crafted, aged whiskies offers rarity, flavor, and fantasy to ignite the curiosity of today's whisky explorers. Hand-selected by Master Blender Dr. Craig Wilson , the new cask finishes combine with profound complexity and character, while the collection's smokier reserves are revived under the Special Release theme .

Introducing the Spirited Xchange Scotch Whisky Collection, a special release, a cultural exchange of flavors, craftsmanship, and art in eight unique single malt whisky expressions. This year's collection explores diverse ages and personalities of spirits, offering a new depth of complexity and capturing the essence of cultural exchange through unique layers of flavor. The captivating packaging designs, illustrated by eight artists from around the world , are visual tasting notes that place the expression at the heart of the experience and explore the flavors that emerge from casks of local spirits. Each bottle in this special release is individually numbered.

- Special Release 2024:
The Spirited Xchange Second Edition collection continues exploring the theme begun in 2023, formulated with the creative question “What if…?”, aimed at challenging the boundaries of flavor and the traditional maturation method. Under the direction of master blender Dr. Stuart Morrison , unusual combinations of casks and innovative techniques were devised to redefine the profile of iconic brands.

- Special Release 2025:
It is not yet known exactly which brands will make up the 2025 collection, but some of them have been leaked:
Talisker 14 Years, finished in American oak barrels toasted with heat from volcanic rocks off Skye.
Lagavulin 12 Years, matured in refill casks with European butts impregnated in PX and Oloroso.
The Singleton of Glen Ord 17 Years, finished in ex-mezcal and second maturation in sherry barrels.
Roseisle 14 Years, matured in refills and rejuvenated casks.
Oban 12 Years, aged in ex-bourbon American oak.
Dailuaine 21 Years, fully aged in Spanish sherry barrels.
Two references are missing for confirmation, possibly a Mortlach and another new expression, but nothing is confirmed.
